I represent clients who are debtors in Chapter 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy cases. Additionally, I represent creditor clients involved in large Chapter 11 cases. My expertise extends to handling bankruptcy appeals before esteemed bodies such as the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel, the US District Court, and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Moreover, I have served as a Bankruptcy Expert, providing testimony before Grand Juries and in Criminal trials.
In the State of California, attorneys who are certified specialists have undergone a rigorous process. They have successfully completed a written examination in their specialized field, demonstrated extensive experience in that particular area, fulfilled continuing education requirements, and received favorable evaluations from fellow attorneys and judges who are familiar with their work.
Only these certified specialists are permitted to advertise or designate themselves as "certified" specialists in California. Certification is granted either by The State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization or an organization whose certification program has received accreditation from the State Bar.
To find a certified specialist, you can utilize the State Bar's Legal Specialist Search. This resource will provide you with a comprehensive list of specialty areas that are certified either by the State Bar or by an organization accredited by the State Bar.
It is a ‘big deal’ to be a California Bar Certified Legal Specialist. As of May 25, 2024 there are 197,178 active licensed attorneys practicing law in California. At the same time there are only 140 Certified Legal Specialists in Bankruptcy Law. (0.071% are Bankruptcy specialists, or 99.9993% of California Attorneys are NOT Certified Legal Specialists in Bankruptcy Law. In Ventura County where I practice there are two (2) Certified Legal Specialists in Bankruptcy Law. There are 2,857 active licensed attorneys in Ventura County.
